An Italian Pair

An Italian Pair After the Foodbuzz Festival, I was contacted by Mezzetta who so graciously donated many of their products in our swag bags to see if I’d enjoyed what I’d sampled. I replied that YES I loved them, and would love to try a few more – particularly artichokes as they’re my most favorite food, hands down, on the planet. And boy did they deliver! They sent some scrumptious looking samples that I put to good use tonight. Coupled with Whole Wheat Farfalle and some diced rotisserie chicken. The marinara sounded really interesting with all the flavors listed. And these babies? Need I say more… Just like Sandra Lee, I prepared a semi-homemade meal tonight. Diced the chicken, boiled the pasta, drained the artichokes and basically dumped all together. Served alongside a glass of Pinot Noir… The marinara had some SERIOUS kick to it!    [...]

Danish I Am Not

Danish I Am Not The Danish are known for many noteworthy things. Windmills Being Green (#10 in the world) Hans Christian Andersen Viggo Mortensen (well, his parents are) Aqua Æbleskiver Æbleskiver are a Danish pancake, often served at Christmas. With just a week and a half to go, I figured, there’s no time like the present! I met Aunt Else’s at the FoodBuzz Festival, and when the president, Chad, reached out to see if I wanted to try their cast iron pan and aebleskiver mix, I jumped at the chance. A very heavy package arrived on my doorstep a few weeks ago, and tonight was the night. I had read up on Janetha and Allison’s blogs to see their trials and errors. I liken myself to Allison in many regards – love of wine, advertising background, school in Ohio, married with a dog, etc – so you’ll soon see where this is going. Luckily,    [...]

Twelve Days of Quinn’s Christmas Quirkiness

Twelve Days of Quinn’s Christmas Quirkiness Christmas is hands down my favorite holiday. I love the excitement, the anticipation, the smells, the decor, I love it all! When Geoff and I decided how we were splitting holidays with families this year, I have to be honest when I say I was thrilled that I got Christmas. I just love my traditions! I mean, I know marriage is all about new traditions, but I’m not ready yet Which got me to thinking about all of my idiosyncrasies/loves/favorites of the holiday season. So I give you a Twelve Days of Christmas rundown about me: 1. You will never see me write, type or say X………mas together. My mother used to tell me all the time, “You can’t take the Christ out of Christmas,” and even though I don’t regularly (ahem Catholic guilt) go to mass, this has always stuck. 2. I am a sucker for holiday movies. My favorites include Meet    [...]

Quinn’s Favorite Things Giveaway!

Quinn’s Favorite Things Giveaway! Oh. My. Gosh. With the holidays upon us, I TOTALLY forgot about the Quinn’s Favorite Things Giveaway! What better season to host it! Since I started, I’ve given away some of my most favorite things, and I hope the winners have enjoyed them! * August * September * October * November This giveaway I have used nearly every day for the past eight years. Geoff calls it my “Medieval Torture Device,” I call it my savior. I give you the Conair Ion Shine. This hair dryer is AWESOME! It works like a brush and I swear blow dries your hair in half the time. I always flat iron my hair after, so this is perfect to make sure I’m all dry prior to straightening. You can use it like this… Or my favorite maneuver, the flip and dry…. And I want to share it with you! Leave me a comment and tell me a hair horror story. It    [...]

Dear Santa: I Want a Dolly for Christmas

Dear Santa: I Want a Dolly for Christmas Not this kind of doll, but check out her glass eyes. Yea, that’s me, unconscious at our wedding. For a good five minutes. Oy vey. But in all seriousness, dolls / Barbies of any kind were much welcomed under my Christmas tree. Age three was my first dollhouse. Cabbage Patch at five. Did you know there’s an actual hospital? Barbie Newsroom – I was career driven. Barbie Poolhouse My Little Pony Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe (this was my favorite, and still counts as a doll). Thank you, Google. And the piece de resistance, my American Girl, Molly. Think it was the brown hair and glasses. Talk about a walk down memory lane! This stuff is so vintage! Now, I don’t want another dolly (or a real life baby, get that idea out of your head Allison), but I do LOVE receiving presents. I used to peel back the tape on presents that sat    [...]
