Isn’t the 4th of July great? I actually prefer it to Thanksgiving. You still have the family, friends, but for this holiday the warmth indicates that there may be a pool involved, but definitely fireworks and barbecue. My kind of holiday! What is your favorite part of America’s birthday?
Up was so sad yesterday! Good, but definitely sad and very meaningful. And when did matinees get so expensive? $8?!?!!? Wasn’t that the cost of a nighttime ticket?
Before we went to the movie, I had a little snack – some Puffins & Chocolate Chips.
Thumper heard the crinkle of the Puffins bag – look at him devouring them!
More?
After the movie we went to City Sports to finally buy new sneakers. Remember last summer when I asked about good brands of shoes because I hadn’t bought new shoes in THREE YEARS!?!? Well tack on another year to that because it is now FOUR – well, was – until yesterday.
City Sports was doing a BOGO 50% deal, so we both got brand new running sneaks and I got a pair of Nike running shorts all for $158. Not bad! The clerk watched how I walked to check how my feet were prorated. I got some Saucony sneaks known for their stability – I basically am very flat footed. No, seriously, my feet look like Fred Flinstone ready to pedal in his car.

Then we knew we needed to rejuvenate!
By the time we got home it was 5:00 and we had a BBQ to get to by 6:00 – and I still had to bake. Good thing I was making Tina’s Peanut Buttery Bars. They only take 20 minutes! I added chocolate chips to mine.
These were a hit at the BBQ. Even guys who are non-healthy food people enjoyed them!
I stocked up on appetizers.
Veggies
Pita Chips
White Bean Dip
Bread and Olive Tapenade
Chips & Salsa
I filled up on some of the tapenade and white bean dip and veggies. By the time the burgers were done, I was full – so I skipped the main event.
I also enjoyed a few white wine spritzers.
And for dessert a scoop of a Berry Red Velvet Trifle. Unfortunately, not pictured.
There was a toddler named “Quinn” at the BBQ – and it was so confusing hearing my name being called. I have such an unusual name that I’m not used to it. My friends Sara & Sara were both at the party and said, “See! Now you know how it feels!” Does you meet people with your name a lot?
It was a fun BBQ with fun friends and a great kickoff to the holiday weekend.
Breakfast this AM was a repeat of yesterday, but this time a scramble.
I’m off to head to the gym to get my 40 minutes of cross training in, then some massive house cleaning and about a bajillion BBQ’s this afternoon/evening. And of course – FIREWORKS!
Have a safe and wonderful Fourth of July!

Happy 4th of July!! Saucony's are my favorite sneakers by a landslide. I was getting a lot of stress fractures in my feet last year until I bought some Saucony's and they went away almost immediately! I had them all through high school and college too don't know why I switched to Nike. But I'll never look back again!
Sues
hope you have a great holiday, Quinn :)! My favorite part of 4th of July is definitely being outside and surrounded by friends and family!

what a great day!!!! i have two good friends who i am out with ALL the time named kate, and my best friend from high school is katie! my name isnt short for anything though, just kate, so i always claim to be the "real" one LOL
Haha--I never meet anyone with my name. Ever. In my entire life. Some people call me Alan, so I do hear that at times, but it is always referring to a guy, so the confusion is short lived.
I am so jealous you got such a good deal on shoes! I bought new shoes two weeks ago and definitely could have used a discount!
Happiness Awaits
